DESCRIPTION:Craig Fisher with Star Pipe Products will be giving A presentation on mechanical joint restraint devices.  These devices were introduced to the waterworks industry fifty years ago and are now common place. For these devices to function as designed\, they must be installed correctly. The presentation begins by reviewing how these devices enable the buried pressure pipeline to resist the thrust forces generated by water pressure. Then\, pointers for wedge-action restraints designed for ductile iron pipe are presented.  The same is done for PVC wedge-action restraints.  Next\, proper installation steps for wedge-action restraints are reviewed.  Finally\, other styles of mechanical restraint devices are discussed.
